MacOS mouse acceleration and natural scrolling fix. zhijie, September 15, 2023September 30, 2023 I love MacOS, but there are just some design decisions just does not work with how I like to use my PC. This is what I have installed in my MacOS to customize it to my liking. All I need is isolated setting between TouchPad and Mouse. Unfortunately, MacOS does not give me this option and forced me to use a 3rd party solution. LinearMouse Mac has one of the best trackpad I ever used. However, when using it with multiple monitors setup I still prefer to use mouse instead of trackpad. Sometimes I would need to use the mouse sometimes I would use the trackpad. Issue 1: Natural Scrolling By default, the mouse scroll wheel goes the opposite direction as from Windows, called “Natural Scrolling”. However, this does not feel natural to me at all. Turning off the Natural scrolling results in trackpad going the wrong direction. Not sure why by default MacOS is unable to give me the ability just to customize exactly how I want it to be. Issue 2: Mouse acceleration The same issue with mouse acceleration. I love the acceleration on the touchpad, it feels so natural to me. However, when it comes to mouse, the acceleration just feels weird and laggy and always makes me hate using mouse on mac. When disabling acceleration it also disable for my touchpad as well. Now touchpad is too slow. LinearMouse App I found this application, LinearMouse, allows me to customize my mouse scroll direction and acceleration. Here are some screen shots of how it works. It also allows me to disable acceleration on mouse. Finally, I get the setting I like in MacOS. If you are having issues with like me, try out LinearMouse, its free and might help you solve your gripes with MacOS. LinearMouse | The mouse and trackpad utility for Mac.
